Headbands

Do you want some cute headbands for spring and summer?  Try Heather Bailey's Hooray for Headbands.  I made several for Asha from my fabric stash last month, and they are CUTE! Convenient, too, on busy mornings when I don't have time to give her nice pig tails.  They keep her hair off her face.  Our elementary school starts at 7:40, way too early for me.  I am just not a morning person.  The only thing I did differently from the tutorial was the top-stitching for durability.

I sewed up another pair of shorts for Kai.  It was much quicker the second time around.  I couldn't line up the pattern on the fabric because I didn't have enough fabric to work with, but I am still happy with the outcome.  I took total two inches off the sides, so we will see how they fit when he wakes up tomorrow morning.  Now I am finally ready for Asha's little dress... if there are no more distractions.

Cute head bands. I posted about my issues with dressing the kids but I have a whole 'nother issue with doing girls hair. Poor Maryanna has almost a boy haircut because I just can't get her or her hair to cooperate. I've tried headbands but she has a way of putting them on so her ears poke out and hair is all over the place. I am trying to train Clara now to wear clips even though she barely has any hair at all. Any suggestions on training girls to keep their hair groomed?

Asha,
I am afraid Asha didn't learn to keep anything in her hair until she was four. She would just rip it out and toss it. She had a bob cut with straight bangs in Pittsburgh, which was cute in it's own way, and I could always make it look nice by spraying water on it and brushing it. I let her grow it out again once she could brush her own hair. Using conditioner helped it from looking stringy. Good luck!

Asha and Maryanna just may be kindred spirits! Marie' you offer great support to a mom who is too use to easy boys.

Alison,
I can't wait to get together someday. Maybe we will stop by on the way back from the reunion in June. You are doing great with Maryanna !! Two more years, and you will have the best helper.
