Whirlygiggles started

The Christmas quilt is ready to be machine quilted.  I want to do free motion quilting on my machine (nice tutorial here by Amandajean), but I don't know if I trust myself with it quite yet.  I haven't done it in a while.  I have too much of me invested into that quilt and I don't thin I can take it if anything goes wrong.  I decided I need some practice.

I started one from my ever growing list of quilts I want to make.  It is called Whirlygiggles.  After you see Jacquie's two quilts, this and this, and Michelle's quilt you just have to make one of your own.  Michelle's tutorial is here.  So far, I have made two each of these six in the picture.  I feel something is missing, but can't put my finger on it.

I got my first haircut here, and I just love it!  I feel so light and pretty.  I always worry about finding the right person to cut my hair when I move to a new city.  I have had haircuts that looked great at the salon, but turned me into a lion or a mushroom when I tried to style it.  My hair is thick and coarse with big waves.  Perfect if I was a Polynesian dancer and I could grow it down to my waist, but since I am a mom with limited time in the morning, I am looking for something easy and light.  Shari was great.  She knew exactly what to do.  She put good amount of layers in, and also thinned it towards the bottom.  At $22 for a hair cut, I might be able to go back more often than every six months.

Marie, the quilt is so fun and beautiful, I can't wait to see the finished product. You are right the other quilts are amazing as well!
I am glad you found a great place to get a hair cut. I just don't seem to get my hair cut but once in awhile because I hate paying the high prices but it always feels great when I do. I have heard great things about Shari from lots of the family, I am glad you like her.

Kim,
I was looking at old pictures the other day in the computer, and found some from your wedding. You had long hair. I have gotten so used to you with short hair, that it surprised me a bit. Super cute pictures though.

Jacquie,
I see that in your quilt, the blue color in the brown pattern pops for a beautiful effect. I think that is what this quilt is missing.

I'm not a huge quilter but that looks like a fun quilt. I just have to keep reminding myself ..... Don't start any big projects, don't start any big projects. But this post sure is tempting me. Also after seeing all the great things Jacquie did.

As for jacquie's site what inspired me the most was her sidebar button that said 'crafty creative & fit'. Sometimes I get worried after leaving the fabric store because so many of the women there are huge and I wonder "is that what happens when you sit at your sewing machine all day' I know it's bad of me to think that but that is why I was totally inspired by Jacquies blog.

Your hair looks great too! So fresh and modern.

I have no idea what you are talking about! You ALWAYS look beautiful! I am just loving peaking in on all your projects. I wish I could get into sewing the way you do...even with the motivation I have been getting from you this new house has no room for it yet. Some day! I just love it!!

How do you find so much time to do all of your neat sewing projects? You have a great eye for color. Marie, if you happen to have a Viking sewing machine, they make a great free motion stitch regulator that is fabulous for free motion machine quilting. Also, if Shari disappears or disappoints, Lisa at Artistic Touch is very good. (By the way, if you want to send me your email address at iliketoquilt@hotmail.com, I'll send you a link to our blog.) Keep up the quilting - you're great!

You're hair looks great! And twenty two dollars! I wish I could find someone that could cut mine for that much...

The quilts look great as usual... what are you going to do with all of them?

Missed your phone call today... hopefully we'll be in touch better next week. Stu put up the party flags for my birthday. I walked into the kitchen and was all depressed. Miss you!

Beautiful quilt, elegant haircut, darling kids--I'm terrified of you, Marie, but I can't resist your blog. As Zach said the other night when we were treating ourselves to your fabulous salmon and capers recipe, "Isn't it depressing that Marie calls this a desperation dinner?" Gotta agree, and could I please have your broccoli pesto recipe?

Hi Janene,
If only we lived closer now. I would love to sew with you. I wasn't really into this stuff yet when we were in Pittsburgh.

Alison,
Isn't Jacquie great? I love everything she makes. It has been a month since I joined Jacquie and started exercising. Scott wakes me up, and we do it together. It has been great. I have more energy all day. I do more for my family AND I sew more.

Dawn,
I sent you an email.
Thanks for the tip about the stylist! Do you still cut hair?

Yurika,
ゆりかちゃんもユタでいい美容師さん見つかるといいね。このShariなんて縮毛矯正$35ぐらいとかいうの。ちょっとそれはどうなんだろうね。

Adrianne,
I can't believe I forgot to call you. Tamsin and I went to Moscow to pick out some fleece to make blankets for the service project. I was waiting for her to call me while I was working in the kitchen. I am so sorry. I will call you next week for sure!! We are having Asha's birthday party here in two weeks, and I can't wait to use the flags. That reminds me I have to work on the invitations. I asked Asha who she wants to invite. She came up with twenty kids, so I need to bring it down to ten.

Tine,
That is very nice of you to say.

Julia,
My head is spinning because it is getting so big from your comment! We were going to make that broccoli spaghetti, weren't we? I guess we ran out of time. There is no recipe for it. I will pay more attention to the amounts next time I make it so I can write it down.

I love your hair. Finding a good hairstylist always provokes anxiety. I hate spending fifty dollars for a bad cut. So good for you.

Melissa,
Now, you always have great hair. $50 was how much I spent for hair in San Diego as well. I was eyeing on the cheep South East Asian hair salons in Kerny Mesa area, but I never had the courage to go.

Hi Meredith,
I do have to say that this quilt would be cute with any color, boy or girl. I have big plans for more :)

Your haircut looks so great!! And how nice not to skip feeding your family for a week to afford it. :) I really love how that quilt turned out. Really fun!
