Two Tops

I made two tops from the book Stylish Clothes for Girls.  Thanks, Alison, for loaning this fabulous book to me!

I had never sewn a blouse before, so this one was extra fun to try.  Attaching the callor was the new part and it was not bad at all.  I made size 120.  The overall fit is very flattering on Asha.  I did add an inch to the length to keep the tummy from showing when she wears it with her low-rise pants.  I love the design details in the front, but it is somewhat lost in the busy pattern.  If you look at the pictures in the book, you will know what I mean.  The cover picture shows the short sleeve version, and view n is what I made.  I have plans to make a few more, and will definitely stick to solid fabric for the bib.

The batik-like fabric came from Walmart in Hawaii.  Cotton/polly blend.

Comfy turtle neck shirt, view r in size 130.  Again, a great pattern.  The fit is perfect on Asha.  This one is long enough to cover her low rise Gap pants.

Cotton lycra fabric from here.  I am impressed with the quality of the fabric and ease of sewing.

Asha has always hated turtle neck shirts, but didn't complain about this one.   Did she grow out of it, or was it because we left some buttons open?

She must like that turtle neck because it has the option to button down and it looks loose. Nicky won't even wear those swim shirts with the tiny turtlenecks. I had to cut a slit down the middle of the neck so she would wear it at the beach. Asha is such a lucky girl with all these adorable clothes. She looks very happy in the pictures.

Those are both VERY cute. I've never been a fan of turtlenecks either but yours, I LOVE! The buttons are a cute touch and leaving it open a bit adds fun flair.
Great stuff!

ますますアーシャちゃんがうらやましくなるのと同時に、まりえちゃん、やっぱり女の子が一人いてよかったね!男の子に洋服作ってあげるより、作り甲斐があるでしょう。

I'm still catching up on laundry! But finding joy in your sewing results!

Is the turtle neck from the same book? I forgot.

Asha is so lucky - you couldn't buy such great pieces

男の子の服もかわいいものがいっぱいあるんだけど作ってあげる時の反応が全然ちがうんだよね。

Alison,
You are right about the book. I will keep looking.
The turtle neck shirt is from your book.
Good luck with laundry. Maybe it is time you buy another set of washer/dryer. I couldn't help but notice the laundry room at the Huntsman lodge. Now that would be my dream laundry room. I would put my sewing machine in there too.

Marie, Asha is beautiful regardless of what she is wearing but she is the luckiest girl in the world to have a mom that puts so much effort into her wardrobe. The clothes are always amazing!

yeah - I'm not one to covet fancy things but my weakness is laundry rooms.....is that still a sin? and what about "fruit rooms", or home "labs"?

I have a full functioning "dream home" all laid out in my head. And it may look more like a combination school, restaurant, art studio, dorm and laundry mat more than something you may see in Town & Country.

「幸せな親子」っていうのがいいね。本当にそうだよ。
学校でも教会でも「ママが作ったの〜!』って自慢しまくってるもん。

Alison,
Does that dream house still have the outhouse for messy projects?

You are a very good seamstress. Thanks for sharing.

marie,

with all the clothes sewing you do, it looks like an overlock machine would be perfect for you! I don't have a machine myself, my friend Linda brought her's down with her.

Lovely shirts. The collar on the last one is fantastic, I like those buttons on the shoulder :)
And the blue fabric is beautiful!
