Amy Butler dress

It has been taking us a while to get settled after our trip.  But now that I have started limiting the kids' screen time and sugar intake back to a minimum, we are a lot happier and things are looking brighter.  I may even be able to squeeze in some sewing time tonight.

While I was unpacking, I organized every body's closets to make space for the new clothes we got in Hawaii.  In the process, I found some clothes that Scott and I haven't worn in a while.  Some of them are still in good condition, so I am excited to see what I can make out of them.  Maybe a denim blanket, Kai's pants, Asha's skirt, or a dress.

Since I have no pictures of new projects, I will bore you with a dress I made for Asha last spring.  I used a pattern from this book.  I love the two prints together, and am so sad she grew out of it.

marie,
I thought I posted a comment earlier but must not have finished. Anyway just wanted to say really cute dress and I love the colors. It looks like a great summer dress. I can't wait to see your other projects.

Cute dress! Just don't tempt me with anymore sewing books. I can't wait to get busy with all the new ones.

Kim,
Thank you! I am still struggling to find time to sew. I should have more time when Jerome and Asha are back in school and Scott starts working again in the evenings.

Alison,
This book is the older version of the Girly Style Wardrobe book, so you really are not missing anything. Have fun with the new books, and call me if you have any translation questions.

That's a gorgeous dress. I would love to learn how to sew like that! Did someone teach you, or did you have to teach yourself?

Allison,
The basics, believe it or not, come from my middle school home ed. class. We sewed aprons, pajamas, totes, learned basic French embroidery, and lots more. We even dyed fabric to sew a traditional Japanese curtain. It was so much fun.

Whatever I know beyond that comes from my mom. She was very busy (a working mom with five kids), so she hardly ever had time to sit down and teach me, but I just watched her when she was sewing. My mom comes from a family of art, sewing, and gardening buffs, and I was fascinated by the beautiful things she created. She coached me when I made my wedding dress. Now we sew together whenever we get together.

Since coming to the states, I have been blessed with wonderful friends who are experienced and knowledgeable with sewing and art.

That is more than you wanted to know, but there you have it. I am still hoping to someday sew with you again. You have great ideas and taste for colors.

もう3人目の予感してるの??? しかも男の子???
女の子が生まれた暁にはドレスぐらいならまかせて! でもその頃には裕子さんも洋裁してて自分で素敵なドレス作ってそうだよ。
