First Day of School

Jerome and Asha started school on Wednesday.  It was raining, so Asha got her wish granted and I drove them to the entrance of the plum path behind school.

Back home, it was nice to give Kai some one-on-one time.  We read some books and then did work around the house together.  Kai was happy and good all day.  It is nice to know I can keep him out of trouble if I teach him to work and keep him busy.

The farmers started harvesting.  I am sad to see the golden hills disappear.

Here are a couple pictures of the living room.  We spend a lot of time in there as you can see.

A girl in the enrichment committee of our ward saw this blog and asked if I could teach a sewing class on oven mitts and pot holders.  I feel honored and also very excited.  If you have any suggestions regarding teaching sewing classes, please let me know.  It is my first time, and I want to be as prepared as I can.  I am planning on sewing up some samples this week.  Yes, it is about time I have a sewing entry, isn't it?  Christmas quilt, star quilt, and Whirlygiggling quilt to follow.

Have a great Labor Day!

I hope they had a good first day of school! They look so cute standing there, all ready to go :-)
How exciting to be teaching a sewing class! Good for you!!
The plans you have for quilts are great too, I have been eyeing that whirlygiggling pattern as well :-)

The kids looks so excited and happy on their first day of school. I hope they will make friends quick. I bet it is nice to get back into your routine and have more time for the little kids. I'm still surprised I didn't know about your sewing talent until after your moved.

That is great that you've been asked to teach an enrichment class. I can't think of a better way for the women in your ward to get to know you and you to know them. Sounds like you're settling into your new place very well!

Hooray...good old Jefferson Elementary! I love that school (even if the "remodeling" turned out to mean tearing it down and building a new one) Jerome & Asha look adorable. I'm sure that everyone will love your class! I wish I could be there.

Tine,
They had a fantastic first day. I can't wait to see your version of the whirlygiggling quilt.

Melissa,
Jerome and Asha have cousins and friends from church in the same school, so they seem to have lots of people to play with.

The thing about living here is that Scott's family seems to have a lot of confidence (sometimes too much) in me, and they know how to put me to work. I have led music, played the piano, taught RS lesson, taught some kids how to sing Called to Serve in Japanese, and now this class. It has been crazy! And, my new calling is the choir pianist. Imagine that!

Jacquie,
Thank you. I can't wait to get that over with, so I can try your whirlygiggling quilt.

Kimberly,
True. I tend to stick to Scott's mom and sisters, so it is good for me to get out of my comfort zone and get to know people.

Gillian,
I love that school, too. There is a great feeling to it.
Scott said Mrs. Bettas is still there.

We adore the reunion album you made. I didn't think there would be many pictures of our family since we didn't carry a camera around, but I was wrong. Do you think you can make one every time?
