First time at the sewing machine

We have cousin Caroline over for the weekend, and it has been so much fun.  She and Asha love projects, so we decided to make a tote bag.  They cut out their little squares and appliqued them on to the duck fabric at the sewing machine.  It was Asha's first time and Caroline's second to sew with a sewing machine.  I had a lot of fun watching them as they carefully handled the fabric.  Then we assembled the bag.

They look so pleased with themselves. What a great mom to show them how to use the sewing machine and not even get worried about broken needles and the like.

What a blessing for Caroline to have someone who helps her with her joy of sewing!! Her bag hasn't left her hands since she made it, and when she was going to sleep tonight she showed it to me "Look, Mom, I've filled it all up!" It was a very cute church bag, too. Being at your house was a dream come true!
