Capris

It is more fun to make dresses and skirts, but Asha needs a few capris.  Here is the first of three pairs I want to make.  I drafted the pattern using several pant patterns I have.

I had the idea for the front pockets for a few years, and Alison helped me draft it out.  They turned out just as I imagined.   I will post a picture of Asha wearing them later.

The fabric came from $1.50/yard Wal-Mart mystery fabric stack.  I think it is cotton/poly blend.  I bought a few extra yards so I can make shorts for the boys, too.

We have been busy putting our garden in.   Here is Kai with his plant, the Sugar Baby watermelon.  He caught the gardening bug the most, and has been working the hardest.

Here is Jerome using the ice breaker to break down the clay-like soil that the rototiller missed.

Looks like you are having good weather there. Here is the typical May gray. Love the gardening pictures, looks like you have great helpers.

I love the capris! The front pockets are so cute. Your garden looks BIG! What else did you plant?

Allison,
We just drew a circle in the front yard, killed the grass, and prepared the garden. We had no idea how many plants it would take to fill it up. We planted lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, white squash, watermelon, Japanese pumpkin, jack-o-lantern pumpkin, and some herbs. That only filled up half of the garden, so we are going out to get more. We also put in some raspberries and marionberries.

They turned out great! I like the stripes and can't wait to see Asha in them.

I'm jealous of your garden. Any asian eggplant? hahaha

プルマンには蚊がいないと思ってたら今年は結構すごくて虫除けスプレー大活躍だよ。

Alison,
Hadn't thought about Asian Eggplants. I am going to buy some seeds in Japan.
