Home projects

We had a productive Saturday. We planted 64 trees, 60 Thuja trees along the driveway, 3 apple trees in the front yard, and a maple tree in front of the house. Scott's dad and brother-in-law Bryan came to help us early in the morning, and it wasn't until after noon that they got all of them planted. What a job! We couldn't have done it without their help! Here are three pictures to show you the before and after. The car is Bryan's.

This is what happens to your spices when Scott takes charge of the kitchen. He didn't let me color coordinate them, either. They are alphabetized.

Scott also built a fence on the side of the house. I will report on that as soon as we clean up around it.

dlooks great! i'm interested to see how long the spices stay alphabetized. next step.... color coordinating your bookshelves. :) stu always says that no decent library would ever color coordinate the shelves. it would be a very pretty library though.

I think the colors all mixed up look pretty. How did you stick them to the fridge? Magnets or sticky stuff?

Allison,
They are magnets. Costco sells them with a metal board, but we just put them on our fridge.

You have been busy! I like the spices but wondering if Quinn has figured out how to open them yet.

How long before you will have your own apples? What a treat to have them right in your yard!

このスパイスのマグネットいいねー!今度コストコに行った時探してみる!いつもキャビネットからスパイス探すが面倒で…。

それにしても大きなドライブウェイがあるんだね。うらやましい~。

Alison,
I do have to admit that I gasped when I saw Quinn walking around with the saffron container. We told him not to bother the spices a few times, and he lost interest.

We actually have an apple tree in our back yard. We didn't get it sprayed last year, so the apples were full of worms. Quinn and Kai still ate quite a bit though, when they were playing in the yard. They were really sweet. The new trees look like they would have a few apples soon. They are as tall as I am.

この家はドライブウェイのせいでなかなか売れなかったらしいよ。雪かきが大変だからだと思う。結構気に入ってるんだけどね。

I loved my trees growing up we had apple, pear, cherry and peach. My mom hardly ever bought fruit at the store. We ate what was in season and home canned fruit.

What a great idea! Next you will tell me that he replaces the spices often so they will always be fresh and potent.
